Cutting-edge engineering as become essential to the medical field as it gets increasingly sophisticated, and collaborative efforts between medicine and engineering across Japan\u2014among them a partnership agreement we signed with the Nagoya University School\/Graduate School of Medicine in April 2023\u2014have been pushing both universities and researchers to the next level. Several Nagoya Institute of Technology researchers across different specializations have also been working on joint research and other collaborative projects with medical schools, healthcare institutions, and medical device manufacturers for many years. Given the current landscape, our new master\u2019s program in medical engineering serves as a starting point for future-oriented educational research, cutting across a variety of engineering and medical disciplines in the hopes of promoting organic synthesis among different fields for the purpose of supporting sophisticated medical technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Our students develop an understanding of mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, social technology, and other engineering technologies, as well as the challenges that come with applying them to the field of medicine. By prioritizing the practical sciences, they aim to overcome challenges in a variety of fields, from medical and social services technologies to rehabilitation and healthcare. Education and research at the Nagoya Institute of Technology focuses on three cross-cutting fields. The first is the <span class=\"fst-italic\">Cyber<\/span> field, which is largely driven by sophisticated simulation technologies. The second is <span class=\"fst-italic\">Physical<\/span> field, which relies on experimentation technologies developed over decades. The Cyber and Physical fields are closely tied to technological fields, as evidenced through the digital transformation (DX) wave spreading throughout society. Finally, we focus on <span class=\"fst-italic\">Heart<\/span> field, which are intimately related to our motto, \u201cEngineering with Heart and Mind for Humanity.\u201d At the Nagoya Institute of Technology, we strive to deepen and more fully integrate these three areas to promote future-oriented educational research.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"mt-5 pt-5 text-center fs-2\"><strong>Cutting-edge technologies have become<br \/>\nessential to the rapidly-advancing medical field<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"mt-5 text-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mw-100\" src=\"https:\/\/biomedscieng.web.nitech.ac.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/03\/program_img01.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"mt-5 text-center fs-5\">Our students develop an understanding not only of engineering technology, but also the challenges that come with applying them to the field of medicine.
